However, where you and I disagree is on the method and means to keeping them in check. You'd like the US to go it alone and continue spending hundreds of billions of dollars going after them everywhere, even after 5 years of proof that we are no closer to squashing them after $800B spent in that manner. I'm a student of history. History tells me that those Muslims are tribal and have been fighting for millenia. Nothing we do will stop them from fighting. My hats off to the Israelis for trying to carve out a country in that Godforsaken region. They are forever doomed to battling the tribes. A better way for the US is available, though. We know we won't stop them from fighting. So let's set them against each other, as they were before we got our big fat nose involved. If they are too busy killing each other, they won't spend so much time coming after Americans. But in the off chance, they slip past our guard, then we have to make them pay. No doubt about that. But I don't believe our large scale military engagement in Iraq has been productive against Al Qaeda. They are in Pakistan, and yet we're fighting in Iraq. Go figure. Instead, we need to get smarter. Maybe it's your soldier history in the Middle East that makes it tough for you to step back and come up with a better solution than throwing all of our might against an intractable enemy. It simply hasn't worked and it has gone a long way to bankrupting this country. Let's get back to root causes and start making our money and might put them in check buy setting all of our enemies against each other, rather than giving them more reasons to fight us.
