They need :

1. FBI protection.
2. CIA support.
3. authority to fight financial terrorism.
4. authority to use airfoce, army ( hope we don't need the
navy ) to take down the bad guys/gals.

"I think the SEC regulators should be paid a base salary and bounties based on the size of the scams they turn up, by the scammers, if possible. Make it so lucrative that really smart guys getting out of college want to get into THAT game. Publicize the winners like Elliot Ness and make them into rock stars."

It's a bad idea. The government has too many assets at its disposal. The people in enforcement now lack the proper ethical grounding to enforce the law. The same lack of ethic would ultimately lead to kangaroo courts and an unbalanced focus on small-time or unsophisticated investors who cannot afford to defend themselves with expensive counsel.

Whatever happened to simply doing the job you were hired to do?
