I think USA has a lot of efficiency improvement potential. Health care alone is a good example, but vehicle mileage and home insulation are good examples, too. I live in a country that spends less energy to heat homes than what USA uses to cool down homes, and here it's illegal to have less than 4 inches of insulation in walls when building new or renewing old buildings. Mandatory pressure-tests of homes, passive heat regeneration and power limits for air exchange fans also add to efficiency.
