Probably not the city of Maricopa in the desert,
but 100 miles northwest in the county near Wickenburg.

The community of Maricopa is in the southerly portion of Maricopa County. That is low Sonoran Desert also including the town of Gila Bend. The east-west line of Maricopa and Gila Bend is more characterized by feed lots and shrimp farms than it is the foothills, streams, washes and old diggings of the Wickenburg (Vulture) area at the extreme northerly limits of Maricopa County. ...more water and elevation around Wickenburg, which is still a charming old cow town.
