If Hamas isn't launching "Grad" rockets at Israel, what would you like to name those rockets? I heard reporters from two cable news channels use the term in connection with the rockets being used yesterday. These guys, being close to the action, must be presumed to have the facts correct. Certainly, more likely than someone getting their information from afar off a website with no real time reporting.

Look, the individual rockets don't have a name, because there are different rocket motors, tail sections and warheads that can be mixed and matched. The launching system tells you more, but I don't think the Palestinians use the regular launching systems. At least none of the attacks I have read about are characteristic of a Katyusha style attack. The whole point of this class of artillery rocket is a mass attack, dozens or even hundreds of rockets hitting in and around the same area. The rocket loads that the Palestinians are using are most likely ones for the Chinese WS-1E launcher. However, they seem to be launched singly instead of in mass waves. That means they don't have a lot of them, and may not even have the proper launchers. Which also effects the accuracy. Giving these rockets names is like given ammunition for a rifle names.
