LOL...I'll bet Bernie Madoff could have some big offshore accounts where he parked family money -- I mean illegal profits (it's tough to trace accounts in places like the Cayman Islands and Switzerland)...I love how Bernie claims he was the only one in his family run firm that was involved in the complex global $50 Billion ponzi scheme...I find it VERY hard to believe that his sons and his wife (and other relatives) were not aware of some of the unusual activities that took place inside the firm. Bernie knew he didn't have the funds to cover the more than $7 Billion in redemptions that came in fast and furiously at the peak of the market sell-off...I wonder why Bernie didn't leave the country permanently -- there are parts of the world where he could disappear...Yet, I don't think his ego would allow him to do that. A truckload of trading went on inside of Bernie's firm and I'm not sure it was all on behalf of his clients...some folks think Bernie is the front man for a much more elaborate operation than has been described by the SEC. Maybe Bernie is taking the fall so that he can try to save his family and other powerful folks on Wall Street from prosecution -- Too bad Patrick Fitzgerald is not going after Madoff and EVERYone who was engaged in illegal activity that was tied into his firm...We may need an Independent and aggressive prosecutor to go after the real criminals on Wall Street. -s2@JustMyView.com
