This works better with hybrids like the Prius or a plug-in hybrid, than a pure electric. A pure electric would run down to quickly. But with a hybrid you can use the gasoline to recharge the battery.

The Tesla holds 54 Kilowatt Hours of energy when fully charged.

The beauty of the hybrid is you can fire up the engine and use it as a generator in this case.

Down the road electric cars will store more and more energy so the V2G concept will really work. Probably 20 years down the road you will see the concept of a "neighborhood grid" that will be very stable and reliable. Some cool things are coming very quickly.
