TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed La Mancha Resources has increased the measured and indicated resources at its Ity mine, in the Côte d'Ivoire, to 786 500 oz of gold, the company announced on Monday.

The new estimate represents an increase of just over 50% from the last resource update of 523 100 oz, in December 2007.

La Mancha owns 45,9% of the Ity mine, and the increased resource estimate brings its attributable share of the Ity resource to 361 000 oz.

"The 120 000 oz of gold that La Mancha is adding today to its consolidated resources table is another major step towards the company's goal of a total measured and indicated resource base of two million ounces by the end of 2008,” the company said.

The firm has recently added to the resources at properties in Australia, and expects to soon announce a resource estimate for the tailings at its Hassai mine, in Sudan.

“We are therefore fairly confident of reaching our two-million ounces target,” La Mancha said.

At Ity, La Mancha, which operates the mine, will now integrate the new resources into the mining plan, and will continue additional drilling until July.
