Look, the Palestinians are used as pawns by the other Arab countries. They like the conflict between Israel and Palestine to simmer along because they can keep their own poor and disaffected distracted by it. And that lets them to keep their nasty little despotic countries safely away from the possibility of any sort of change. So they feed in just enough weapons and material so that the Palestinians have no hope of an actual military confrontation and leave only low level terrorism as their only option. This insight is fair for a lib but way out of date. Today the Arabs are scared stiff of the Palestinians, and would prefer them to reach an agreement with Israel and occupy themselves with living their lives like normal people.
