I don't know. It is certainly strange given that inventories of copper have been the first to build up. IMO, copper prices will eventually force some mines to shut down later in 2009 or 2010.

That will cause a drop in silver production which is bullish pricewise.

I would think that many of the producing mines with cash are stockpiling and waiting for better prices rather then taking on the cost of a shutdown. The world probably won't end too soon so prices must go up from here.
