it doesnt matter if it was or wasnt. It wasnt. If WW2 followed new rules of war which prohibit virtually any civilian deaths, we would have lost assuming germans and japanese didnt follow the program. Having said that, more humanity is not in and of itself a bad thing but my fear is that it a. puts democracies in untenable positions when they self defend and b.will lead to overwhelming force like nukes becausae it would be easier to explain nuking when enemy is all dead than 7X24 WW2 violence. B is brand new in my thinking. Not sure, just a guess that one day, a country like israel will indeed be backed to a wall because it didnt do things like gaza to take the steam out of the assymetric terrorists.

I "know" that the Jews had nothing to do with WWII. The U.S. military even avoided bombing rail lines that could have kept some Jews alive because it wasn't considered strategically "important". I just brought up the Jews because the guy I was responding to mentioned them. I could have well said that if he had been running things in WWII we probably would have let the Nazis take ALL of Europe because he considered civilian casualties too great a cost for winning the war.
