OT The biggest thing we need is an efficient way to move power around the country. HVDC does that beautifully. The existing AC grid in places (especially the NE) is a disaster waiting to happen. (heck, it already has happened a number of times!) I finished reading a book about the building of Grand Coulee Dam. The robber barrons fought tooth and nail to have it not built. The outcome of WWII would have been much different if the "big Dams" had not been built by the Federal Government.
