I know little about Panetta---upon first glance, it appears that he needs on the job training.

Being the head of CIA is a strategic position. We need an experienced trained non-novice in that position. Seems that Feinstein recognizes that-----will see if she raises concrete objections, does appear that she is giving the polite answer.

As I understand from another message board---------the U. S. Senate must approve the appointment. If there is substantial opposition in the Senate, Obama will have to have an alternative while leaving the current CIA Director in place.

Panetta is a political appointee. I suspect he will not be running the CIA. One wonders if he will be aware of the fact.
