Hey.. just taking you at face value since you have all the answers..

You don't believe that consumers make benefit trade-offs?

Sure they do!! When Oil was $147/bbl they were making decisions about driving versus eating.

And when oil was $35/bbl, they were deciding between driving and eating (because now they're in fear for their jobs).

We're in a recession, my friend. You've seen the car sales data, right?? Japan's industrial production down 8% last month, while our ISM numbers were very low. Credit has dried up for all but the most credit worthy of individuals. And people simply can't afford the $40K for your electric cars (Volt, Karma) where fully 1/4 of the price is battery.

No.. they will sit on the current vechicles they have, fix them over and over again, until they have the balance sheets in sufficient order to warrant cracking open their wallets again. And even then they will probably demand discounts and favorable rates when they do purchase the basic fossil fuel vehicles.
