They will do something, like say inflation is overstated
by the current measurements and modify them. Then stop
reporting M2, citing costs are too high. -ggg-

Not to speak for Vi but I think what she was saying is, it isn't that they won't do anything. But, rather, whatever they do will be in their, not our, best interest. So, figure out what's good for the crooks and you'll have your answer.

If (price) inflation develops in the US because the trade deficit begins to unwind and the dollar weakens, CPI could be running +5% and GDP -5%. If that happens, will the Fed raise rates to 5% to keep real interest rates at zero. If they do it will be really bad. Of course, if they don't it will be really bad. If, if, if :)

rofl....that is what they say, but in reality their whole mandate is to ensure that we have inflation, albeit at 'low, controlled rates'...so the banks can leverage and not fear being caught by deflation...in reality, dishonesty is what they do and what they think...
