I like this:

"Consider our latest Nobel Prize-winning economist – he attended the best universities, and has been exposed to every opportunity, yet he remains amazingly uninformed and illogical in his area of lauded expertise. Happily, most working Americans have a far better understanding of economics than Paul Krugman – and he remains as irrelevant as ever to their actual lives and actions."

FWIW, Lenin actually recognized the failure of socialism late in
his life and introduced NEP - the new economic policy that
allowed private enterprises and profits for the peasants (who
later became kulaks). Post-civil war hunger was
quickly eliminated and the country very quickly recovered
from the WWI and the civil war. It was Stalin who usurped the
power and eliminated Lenin's NEP, started collective farms,
causing hunger again in the 30-s. Stunning. <g>

The first communists like Lenin were not necessarily either
dictators or very evil. They were more of utopia believers.
Before Stalin you could even call Soviet Union a democracy -
the constitution of the Soviet Union was very liberal,
human rights protection, the rule of the people, albeit
socialist. Of course, later on the constitution was never
followed, even thou it was never altered. A lesson
for Americans who think it's always the Supreme Law of the Land. <g>
