Walter Industries, Inc. Announces Closure of Jim Walter Homes

Yeah, it was all over the local news last night. Not a surprise... they were also having some bad quality problems. They said they only had " a handful" of uncompleted houses... yeah I bet.

In a messed up way, its actually good news. Some builders have to go under before the bottoming process for housing is done. It helps decrease new inventory.

Things have heated up on TSCM now that the markets have closed......people are responding to the thug accusation.....in fact, the guy who made the accusation has apologized. Here is one response I thought was good:

"Dan, I would not characterize Obama as a Chicago-style thug. Two important things to remember:

1. Chicago politics has known rules. Maybe they're not civics-textbook rules, but if you want to play the game, you play by the rules and things happen. The key is a little grease is good; too much grease makes things a mess.

2. Obama lived in Hyde Park and represented that district in the Illinois senate. The rest of the city always viewed the University of Chicago crowd with suspicion as being effete intellectuals. He would never have been allowed in the room when the real juicy deals were being cut.

So saying, did he know and deal with the local political operators? In the words of Sarah Palin, "you betcha!" It would have been impossible otherwise. But just because he knew this crowd does not mean he was of this crowd.

In another turn, the Boston Red Sox fans used to say Jimmy Piersall deserved half of Ted Williams' salary as Piersall had to play left- as well as centerfield. I feel that way about Sen. Richard Durbin. He had to do Obama's job as well as his while Obama was off running for president. Now he's going to have to do Roland Burris' job, too. Who will thank Dick Durbin besides me?
