Been suggested before - they'd simply use it to lob rockets - so since the Palestinians are such prolific tunnel diggers - best to make it run underground.

Or a train that can't make stops with no windows that open.

so they will have a highway running thru israel to gaza. Yes it can be shut down at any time--see russia and gas, but that provides an incentive for them to keep it peaceful. Get over it--they dont have a port and if gaza is that point, they still have to transport goods.

There was a time when Gaza and the WB touched......a corridor/right of way needs to be put between them:
