Leo, Bipin, Sorry I could not respond earlier (links from Europe to many US sites were down yesterday) to clear up my question. 1. I'm wanting to trade in both the US and The Netherlands 2. I don't think shorting is a common mode of operation here in The Netherlands, heck I'm not even sure if it is possible at all. 3. The shorting question was purely out of interest, regardless the market: what is it; what can you do by using it. So both you guys make sense: I should verify if shorting is allowed in the countries I trade in and It might only be possible in the US. jeroen
