Yes... "1% or a bit below" (as it will average out once 2008 is folded-into the averages), or even "1.5%" is "still positive growth.

Absolutely correct. The American economy is a a GREAT MACHINE... momentum alone will carry it forward for a very long period of time. (However... if ever haulted, then momentum will necessarily make it all that much more difficult to get it off the dime again. And, our competitors, China, etc., are not going to just stand by....)

Depends on how high one's hopes and expectations are for America, I suppose....

(Personally, I have always had very high hopes and expectations for the old girl. 1%... 1.5% is a SEVERE DISAPPOINTMENT to me. The old girl *can*, and deserves to be doing much better.)
