Seems more useful than 3-4 overpriced clothing items when my closet is already full (whose isn't?).

My wife is the manager of our local Hospice Thrift shop, which benefits from local donations, including personal effects of old folks who have passed on - we have a lot of those in Hilton Head. What's astounding to her is the amount of clothes people accumulate. A recent involuntary donor had over 100 pairs of slacks, 30 of them with price tags still attached. What was he going to do with them, except contribute to the consumer driven mania?

As the consumer delevers, something has to take its place. Looks like that'll be the government.

Will people rush back to their old ways, full of pent up demand?

Cannot last long if it happens.. Truly hope it doesn't.. much worse pain to come if so.. a Showdown ?

ELO Comes to mind... :o(

She cried to the southern wind
About a love that was sure to end
Every dream in her heart was gone
Headin for a showdown

Bad dreamer, whats your name
Looks like were ridin' on the same train
Looks as through there'll be more pain
Theres gonna be a showdown

And its rainin all over the world
Its raining all over the world
Tonight, the longest night

She came to me like a friend
She blew in on a southern wind
Now my heart is turned to stone again
Theres gonna be a showdown

Save me, oh save me
Its unreal, the suffering
Theres gonna be a showdown

And its rainin all over the world
Its raining all over the world
Tonight, the longest night

a secondhand rowing machine
Let's see...Jan 9th today. In another week or two, Craigslist will be chockfull of them, when all the New Year's resolutions fall apart. (Actually craigslist is already full of them.)<g>
