Wasn't there a comment about updating the facilities to handle more production? Also, remember the LOW analyst number for next year is $1.00. With today's close of say 26 1/2, the stock is trading at 26.5 times the lowest EPS estimate for 98. Are they kidding me??

Steve

look for EPS upgrades over the next 6 months, not downward revisions, IMO.

Jim and all:
Tha tax rate for last q is 15% and this q is 25%. If it is 15% like last time, Cymer will make 26cents instead of 23 cents. Also, they suffered foreign currency loss more this q than any previous ones. All the euipment companies can only forsee 6 monthes from now. Cymer has tremedous baclog up to Sep. 30 is 116.3M and plus up to today backlog, they forsee strong qrowth ahead.

The tax rate rose from Q2 to Q3. Gross margins shark from 38% to 36%. This is due to:

- New Factory = one time charge (costs)

- Warranty reserves

- Inefficiencies due to end of Q switch in customer oriented test bays operations.

None of which are problems to be upset about. I'm really pleased with this. The backlog went from $129 Million to $118 million. pretty good. (though this is indicitive of a slight reduction in BOOK to BILL given the revenue increase and this).

Also they hired new investor relations people/firms and are aware of past shortcomings in this regard.

They are looking for "definitely in 1998 we're expecting improvements in our gross margins". (YES!)
