AFAIK, the DU wasn't responsible. However, there still were troops with measurable amounts of DU in their bodies.

I think the current theory is that GW Syndrome was caused by overuse of some untested chem. or bioweapons antidotes...

I think GWS is just another aspect of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. When your psyche gets messed up, it allows for all kinds of physical ailments.
