<< Obama isn't getting much better>> I think he's getting far worse. 1 difference is he wont be blamed for the market decline prior to his taking office. Many people used the election of GWB as the reason for heavy declines in the latter 1/3 of 00. Also, if a terrorist act happened in the next 9 months it would TOTALLY be the fault of GWB and his lack of ability to put together a solid homeland security. Those are the types of passes I expect Obama to get that I'm not convinced GWB got.

GWB was not handed a bag of shit but he soon turned our economy and nation into one. Easily the worst president in my lifetime and the negative impact of his decisions and leadership will be with us for years. Since we reelected him, we get what we deserve. I think Cheney's recent comments about how "no one could have seen this economic mess coming" points out how out of touch these incompetent fools have been. Scores of people on SI saw this coming and were writing about it and accurately predicting it years ago. I benefited greatly from listening to them and not to our feckless leaders. No, Bush was not a victim, he was a victimizer. Wiser leadership could have averted some of the severe damage we are and will experience but we got none of that. Of course there is blame to go around but the Bush administration was large and in charge throughout the decline and fall and deserves the lions share of the blame.
