The IBM PC was not an innovation. It was not anything special. It was merely a big brand belatedly committing to something that everyone already knew was coming!


Perhaps you under estimate the impact - IBM's name legitamized the PC as a business tool. Before them we had CP/M and other hobby OSes and no business model to make money selling software. The VIC20, AppleII and Kaypro owners simply stole software - IBM PC owners bought their software.

That's a silly statement; as for creativity, if you measure by the number of patents issued each year, I can't remember the last time IBM was not first.
