There's always been crime down there but recently, it's really gotten bad. Trouble is that now they're exporting it here.

One local news station did a story about a problem the L.A. Coroner's office is having in being overwhelmed with unidentified/unclaimed bodies, most of them Latino/Hispanic, most of those the result of violence.
