Anybody who wrote code in assembly back in those days would agree.

Heck, the 68000 was even easier to design for if you disabled asynchronous memory by grounding DTACK. 808x used a multiplexed bus and that meant you had to have buffers even on small systems. Ok, you could play some games with chip enables, but that could make for some really messy logic. And that usually meant glitches, race conditions and weird behavior.

They picked Intel because AMD had just turned (from Moto) and made a deal with Intel 2nd sourcing their line of processors.

Remember those previous AMD ads? "The 68000 is better"...
AMD no doubt helped Intel to this monumental and historic mega design win.

Returned that favor later through that nasty lawsuit against AMD for using the embedded FPP technology in computing products.
