It wasn't an exhaustive list of all the factors that may effect real estate prices. In a given area, the properties that fetch the best prices aren't next to the sewerage plant or landfill site. Not that such properties may indeed be worthy of purchase, it just depends whether the local environmental controls are of a high standard or not.

Generally speaking, people like to live in an environment where they can enjoy good health, and given the choice (money) they will select to do so. Employment opportunity may well drive people to live in locations that might not fit this criteria, agreed. The ones who get wealthy though will want to move on.
