Wow, rolling in loot [other than in Kansas] <As of January 2009[update], Washington has the highest minimum wages of all 50 states, with California, Massachusetts and Oregon close behind. Kansas has the lowest minimum wage, but 5 states have no minimum wage enacted under state law. In these states, the current federal minimum wage applies for most jobs. Out of the entire country, states or cities, San Francisco has the highest minimum wage at $9.79.> en.wikipedia.org

$7 an hour is real money. That's nearly NZ$12 an hour. Get rich quick levels.

Check out China [which is well off compared with Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Africa and Indonesia] The highest is US60c per hour or NZ$1 per hour: <Guangdong Province increased its minimum wage on 1 September 2006 and was split into five categories. The highest is ¥25.80 per month or ¥4.66 (~US$0.60) an hour (in Guangzhou city). The lowest is ¥20.70 per month or ¥0.69 (~US$0.25) an hour.> en.wikipedia.org

So USA minimum wage earners are 10x as rich as China's.

It's hard to say minimum wage is pretty low in the USA when half the rest of the world earns a tenth of that amount.
