"I'll remember that if your own property ever gets vandalized. It might cost more to go after the vandals than to just pay for the damage yourself, AMIRITE"

I've got news for you Ten. Cops don't investigate vandalism. Cops don't investigate if a gang banger breaks into your car and steals your stereo. Cops don't investigate burglaries, car theft and many felonies.

I'm not sure what the threshold for an "investigation" is these days. Probably a murder or a crime that gets in the papers repeatedly.

"A common tactic of guilty parties is to complain about the cost of the investigation against them."

Artfully dodging the issue, per usual.

There was no reason to believe that things were any worse in that transition than in past ones. With the possible exception of the missing keys, it seems like it was about like any other transition including the one from Reagan to Bush. The only reason for mentioning the cost of the report is to illustrate how these manufactured controversies have a real cost associated with them.
