FWIW, Gold is definitely depression stuff, debt-free money. The rush
toward gold is waiting in the wings, as things are going
to get a whole lot worse. It never rallies during good times.
Deflationists are missing that
any government paper or currency is based on debt as well.
I truly expect mid to high 4 digits if not 5 within the next
5 years. The real rush will happen with huge physical offtake,
as confidence breaks down to the point when rich folks don't
trust any government paper or bank account. Gold is not all that weak.
In fact, it made a new high in the average currency in
December. The gold market has its own cycles, thou, and is
in a consolidation/bearish cycle at the moment. Gold will
rally big time on the collapse of the global financial system.
I have just been front running the thing, and playing with
paper accounts, as I expect those to be vulnerable in
what's coming next. Vulnerable to banking holidays and closure.
This crash is not a joke, and that's what next. That's when
gold will really take off and run.

There are quite a few gold loans out there too, with more
than 1/2 of all CB gold lent out already. Those will need
to be settled somehow as the physical offtake picks up. -g-
