for mailing more than $1 million in jewelry to family and friends over the holidays.

His lawyer has said the gifts were an innocent mistake and said he is neither a danger to the community nor a threat to flee.

An innocent mistake?? A guy smart enough to steal $50 billion makes an innocent mistake of distributing $1 million? Not a threat to flee?

So he has all the comforts of home, including access to phones and computers. Nope, he wouldn't attempt to transfer money.

So how much warning did he have that his world was about to come crashing down? How long did it take him to set up a numbered account in Switzerland? Or maybe Dubai. That's a nice place to live now.
