I think Senators from Michigan are not crooks for representing the auto cos. and Senators from New York should have close ties to their state's number one industry. However, they should know enough to not back something that would destroy their financial industry, as they did when they signed on to a Texas Senator's bill. The problem with the financial sector (and biotech and medical and electronic tech) is that the lawmakers don't really understand them. Crooked Senator Stevens's explanation of the tubes that run the internet is a hoot.
