Read this paper: Well to Wheel energy efficiency teslamotors.com When I get my Roadster it will be charged off grid with my own PV and wind array. When I charge it on grid it will come from my local utility which is approximately 99% renewable. That is Hydro electric and Wind. If you want to support the despots of the middle east and other areas and continue to drain the financial resources of this country that is something that you are entitled to do. I for one am putting my efforts and $$ into something that is sustainable. Oil and Coal including NG are finite.
