It does! Even by official statistics the dollar lost 90-
something percent in purchasing power in 100 years, and the
stock market gains are, well, mostly due to inflation. The
Fed's real job is to create inflation to fight unemployment.
We can only hope that both don't get out of control.

The Dow/gold ratio sez the non-inflationary gain in the DOW
index over the past century is, well, zero. That does not
account for dividends, though. -g-
