Big Bucks, you have a point...But, based on my observations, people tend to Postpone buying things that are not of immediate need when they find the value of their investments dwindle as the market goes down and down. Instead, they use their money to buy investments that become cheaper and cheaper. Even those who were lucky to cash in their profits tend to plow back their money as they find bargains in the investment markets, just a little only in the Shopping market...What I'm driving at is that Bear markets create recessions---a thing that re-electionist politicians don't like to happen in an election year.
