I think this clearly did happen to a great extent.

And there is no doubt that she lacks in-depth knowledge of geopolitical issues.

But honestly, if that were a criterion, Obama couldn't have been elected, either. Two years ago, when he began his run, his ignorance of these subjects was astonishing, yet, he has been able to convince even Republican pundits now that he has the knowledge to be Commander-in-chief.

Even those who opposed him (me, for example) now give him credit for having acquired that knowledge quickly. IN fact, most ANYONE can acquire enough knowledge to have answered Gibson's and Couric's questions adequately over the 2-3 year period. But over 2-3 weeks, it is a lot to do. Palin can easily acquire that knowledge over the coming 2 years if she chooses to do so.

What CANNOT be so easily learned is administrative skills -- Palin has them, and we don't yet know whether Obama does.

I cant go into detail but i know someone who knows her well. She is anything but dumb,

She is clever......that's not the same as being smart.

but she is uninformed or ill informed on many issues.

Yes, and smart people know when to shut their mouths. She doesn't and she makes a horse's ass out of herself. Then, she turns around and blames the media for her shortcomings.

On things she has worked on in Alaska, she has keen understanding i am told. Frankly i was surprised to hear this too because of how badly she did on Couric and Gibson and those were not set ups. Maybe she just choked or she refuses to challenge her pre-conceived notions or was buffaloed by her repub handlers.

....or maybe the brains in the family is her husband and he's coaching her. After all, he sits in her office with her.

Michael, > Maybe she just choked or she refuses to challenge her pre-conceived notions or was buffaloed by her repub handlers.

She was hounded all right, but someone with more experience in the national stage could have told his or her handlers to go pound sand.

The way the media treated her, though, was a complete shame. Not Katie Couric specifically, but the way they distorted so many aspects of Palin's family and church life was just so stupid.

"OMG, Pentecostals believe in speaking tongues!" O RLY?

Maybe she just choked

Does that include trying to bullshit one's way out of a tight spot?
