But, speaking just personally here, I thought that article was more about the *politics* of achieving a political party capable of '50 plus one'. In other-words, given the demographics of now, and the projected ones of future years... the actual raw tactics of HOW to achieve a winning and governing-capable national majority.

(And not just a strong regional base.)

IMO, if national strength is the goal (more so then a goal related more to some standard of ideological fealty, irrespective of winning), then it would behoove BOTH sides of the Dem/Rep duopoly to look very closely at respect for individual freedoms... for Libertarian principles not the big government Authoritarianism that most often dominates the agendas for each.

That is... if they want to assemble a winning majority that is capable of enduring....
