OK, maybe this company is the next MicroSoft. I own some shares and hope that's the case, but still would not recognize a router if it fell on me.

What happens when the Internet is delivered through cable TV systems and over the utility lines? Does Cisco have a future in that environment, or is it a slave to the telephone?

Regards,
LordDarley

>>>Their market penetration is awesome. On the engineering and marketing side they are unmatched <<<

I agree that CSCO is numero uno among networkers, nobody can contest that. I just can't see it appreciating anywhere near as rapidly as they have in the past few years. The company is facing mounting competition on all fronts...and as it's rivals consolidate, they become larger and more threatening. CSCO's size alone could soon prove prohibitive to sustaining the growth rate of a smaller, more nimble player. A 20% appreciation in stock price annually over the next 3--5 years is acceptable, but hardly worth waiting around for, in my opinion. CSCO seems fairly valued in the 80s, and there are too many other more attractive candidates out there to invest in and/or trade. I think I will sell soon, when I want to move the proceeds to another prospect. Afterwards if CSCO were to get hit by some unforeseen event, I will probably be back. But there is just too much money to be made elsewhere. That's why I like ASND...it has been beaten down severely, and from current levels, I'm confident that I would make a far greater return over the next 3 months by selling CSCO shares for an incredible 2 year return around 80, and picking up ASND around 35 for a ride back to 50 in a few months, before I sell it too. This is why I have been accumulating so many shares in ASND over the past month. Return potential. For example, I wish I had known Bay had the potential to double like it did...I would have loaded it up in the teens, but I thought the company sucked.

>>>The other companies in this field have a long way to go in reaching Cisco's level.<<<

That may be so, but I really don't worry about ASND or COMS, etc., ever equaling or overcoming CSCO...it's all about how much money the companies can make me. And CSCO just looks a little tired right now...ASND at 35 is a great buy. COMS at 26 was a fantastic buy. I want to see CSCO cheaper...after I sell of course...then I'd buy again.
