Yes. I actually HAD those jobs. A guy adding on to a restaurant hired me and a buddy one summer in HS to move a huge pile of dirt, them move it back where it came from. His reason? He needed us later and wanted to keep us busy. We quit.

No. But that's unproductive work. If you have needs to be filled, it makes sense to pay people to fill them.
