How do those things work under snow?

Generally speaking, at least here in the northeast, the "excess" energy created during the summer months, when solar intensity is greatest, is "banked" in the winter time and your energy service provider applies a credit to your winter bill, if applicable.

OT: solar panels under snow: the value of solar panels can be destroyed by hail, snow loads, wind, low fossil fuel prices, high borrowing costs, technology advances, and 9 other things I'm not yet aware of.

Wait a while, and prices will come down, after a couple hundred solar start-ups go belly-up. We are at the beginning of a huge shake-out in this industry.
