It is amazing - heard on the news that there hasn't been a death related to commercial flying in 2 years, with over a billion passengers flying during that time.

Clearly the training has gotten better.

Back in the day, AF pilots had to be able to fly all types of planes. Today, they're trained to fly only one type. Don't know if that's true for commercial.
