Well, even Soviet Union had a blend of socialism and
capitalism in the first 7 years of its existence, and no mass
murders. China has that now, a communist state politically. <g>

Dictatorship and socialism certainly differ. One is a political
system, the other is an economic system. In my view, still,
all current developed societies is a blend of socialist
ideas within a capitalist society. For example, universal
state medical care was invented in Soviet Union. Ditto free
education. The Soviet Union failed politically because it
failed to create a democratic society with real elections.
The state was controlled by one party. Not defending that
in any way.

The key idea of socialism is workers controlling means of
production. What's publically owned large corporations again?
State share of the economy is also constantly increasing after
every crisis, as the government applies Keynesian approach to
battle them and tries to offset job losses in the private
sector by creating jobs in the public sector. The public
sector is inherently socialist -g-

They made me study all that chit in college, and even thou
I resisted as much as I could, I vaguely remember that Marx
was the only one who made a little sense. For the most part,
thou, the economic system was pure utopia. -g-
