Well, the Israelis obligingly and reactively play the deadly part of Hamas's plan that kills the children. There are several things they COULD have done instead, but chose not to: Gone in with ground troops only. Asked for the UN and the US to stop Hamas. Asked the US for some of our shipboard anti-missile guns and radars to place around the Hamas targets, that should be able to easily shoot down the crude Pal rockets if they land near a town. That's just off the top of my head.
