Thanks to all who sent cards. This is a poem I wrote.

------------

"Tomorrow" by Josh Wright - 2009

All of us looking to reach what we deem high,

Whether an ambitious dream or minstrels sigh.

Most are challenged with more than we try,

Forever looking forward and up at the sky.

Whether a knight or king or only a pawn,

From sunrise till sunset and sunset till dawn.

Whether we walk slowly or choose to run,

All have one life and our time for the sun.

Yet walking or running or avoiding the fast,

Being slow or quick, time moves to the past.

Everything we see and seek onward to try,

Can never fully capture what escapes the eye.

Doing what possible always trying our best,

Though none of us fathom life's secret test.

Effort's always wanting yet wanting is true,

Seeking is restful and rest makes us new.

Life is a gift giving all our days through.

For rich or poor and a sky the same blue.

Time is always fleeting and all see it pass.

And time passes us all and even to the last.

So do we spend life's few precious hours,

To love or hate and to what we give power.

Whether light or dark or a simple flower,

The choice is ours and within our power.

Wisdom is knowing what we should know

What parents should teach and we should go.

Life is a lesson, but it is much more you see,

It is a chance for good and what you can be.

What all of us make and all we should give,

Is a better tomorrow for our children to live.

Not silly toys or carpet for big fancy homes,

Not leisure boats or expensive cars to roam.

What we should give to our children is time.

To give of ourselves and always being kind.

The world will be what our children create,

And children are what we don't leave to fate,

Our children are something all of us share,

In our family and community all need care.

What we leave behind is the part of ourselves,

Our children's future and what they will tell.
