And isn't that TRUE! I am sitting here indulging myself in self-actualization and the bed is unmade, the dishes undone, and I am still in my bathrobe and it's almost NOON. This would NOT be the 60s definition of self-actualization, which would include hose and heels, makeup, and a hot dinner already in the oven. Of course, that didn't work out so well for Plath and Sexton. Back when X was still at home, and I still had kids here, we would IM back and forth all day-- discussing the meaning of life between doing laundry and cleaning. It was a nice mix of physical reality and our desperate need to talk ABOUT that reality. It was for us the equivalent of talking across the fence while hanging out the clothes.
