You are absolutely correct. However the scope of freedom of speech has broadened considerably in the past 4 or 5 decades.

Virtually any person can say whatever they want to, and can march/protest when and where they want to, etc.

I am not saying I agree with all of this, but basically it has become the de facto law of the land throughout the U.S.

Still, yelling FIRE! in a crowded theatre where there is no fire is not allowed (at least not yet.)
