I am really glad in retrospect that I didn't start reading Rand in college. There was this one lady in my Org Lab class - she wat thirty and sdecided to get a BA after a life that included a longish Peace Corps Stint in west Africa. She was a Randie, and nearly talked me into reading Atlas or the Fountainhead. Not to put myself down, but as an assburger I might not have yet had the "toolset" -to use psychological jargon - to discern, and defend against, her deviation from ordinary happy humanity. It had been an absolute epiphany that the rational did not enclose the real, and I wonder if Ayn ever actualized herself into getting that. And the very word "objectivism" I find repugnant. Objectivity is a chimera. Imo. And it distracts from the less definible but more satisfying quests, like having friends.
