I was disheartened to hear some boos in the crowd when his entry to the presidential platform was announced. While no fan of Bush, I don't think he deserves to be booed in public.

Agree... I thought the shoe thing was more appropriate.

I am 63 years old. I cried when obama sworn in. Being involved in the civil rights movement, this was all quite moving to me. The tears would have been shed if it were Colin Powell so the tears had little to do with ideology and much to do about the national stain. As Lester Hold said, 60 years ago his dad was denied entry into restarants in DC.
Next emotion was great hope that this man can accomplish all he sets out to do.
Next was a sense of fear that our problems might be too great for one man to resolve.
Do you get it why i say he has to reach out to repubs as well as dems? To repeat the bush debacle of a 51% presidency (some would say 49%) will not get us as a nation to the promised land of peace and renewed prosperity Dare i add victory in the WOT that some of you dudes deny exists. (Its a police matter to some).
Well with me hope springs eternal and i offer my hand in congrats for discovering obama before I did, but i hope you will try to understand the enormity of the task he faces as he builds national consensus or is it consensi?? Your posts indicates that deep down you might get it--

By the way when they were waiting for obama i barely heard in the crowd the hockey song.... youtube.com

"While no fan of Bush, I don't think he deserves to be booed in public."

He deserves to be pelted with shoes in public.
