Lithium batteries are just not a good long-term solution. But hopefully other technologies, such a ultra-capacitors, or newer battery technology, will provide that needed advantage at a reasonable price.

You REALLY need to get out there and tell Ford Motor Company, GM, Toyota, Samsung, etc etc this information.

Hurry Hawk, those idiots are making a terrible strategic mistake! I'm sure they will reverse course after you set them straight.

What WERE they thinking???

Then you have to agree that the government should not be promoting any single technology. Instead, they should be taxing the bad thing (oil and coal) and providing broad based incentives for the good things (alternative energy). Let the market decide exactly which alternative energy (nukes, solar, wind, etc) wins in the end. Either way, all of those new alternative energies need a smart electric grid to operate effectively. So the government should put money aside to help build a smart grid, which Obama is doing. Thankfully, we have a new President who has a brain, unlike our old one.
